Hello Bride-to-be! We've put together the 7 Moments Every Wedding Video Should Capture to show you who awesome having video at your wedding will be.
Having a professional videographer at your wedding gives you countless extra angles and helps really capture the beautiful emotions of your special day. When a wedding photographer takes a photo of something
happening at your wedding, there's an obvious delay before the next time the photographer can snap another shot. But video, video is rollin' the whole time. So as long as the camera
is pointed in the right direction, the videographer got everything!
But Wedding Videography is more about where to point the camera, it's about understanding your surroundings and the personalities of the soon-to-be newlyweds.
So, without further adieu, here are the 7 moments every wedding video should capture:
Your guests start shouting, everyone is smiling and clapping...this is YOUR HUGE MOMENT! There is so much going on,
and having several angles of this amazing moment will help you and your family relive it forever. This is typically when most of the happy tears
come out and it's almost impossible to know how the wedding party will react! Videographers and photographers have to be ready for anything, so having different
angles of this beautiful moment is so critical.
We like to make sure our Bride and Groom have all the original footage as well, so no matter the angles, you should have all the original footage to view on your own time as well as the edited version.
So, you've just said your I-do's and now it's time for you, your new partner-for-life/partner-in-crime and the wedding party to walk out of the ceremony. Whether you're dancing out to Forever, by Chris Brown, or slow-stepping to a church organ, it's so important to have close-ups, medium-wide and ultra-wide shots of this part. It's one of the busiest parts of a wedding for the photo & video people. You'll want to see the reaction of the guests, the wedding party still up at the alter and of course, the spotlight is on the couple walking back down the aisle.
One of our favorite segments is this Bride and Groom interview! This is where you get a chance to give your partner a "behind-the-scenes" look at a few questions
we'll come up with for your interview. Things like "how did you know he/she was 'the one'?" and "how did you plan the proposal?" or "what did you feel the very first time you saw them?".
Couples love finding out what the other one said as a surprise after the video is put together. And for your video, much of the interview can serve as a "voiceover" for the other footage that will be captured during your big day.
Along with members of your wedding party, we see dad's give toasts and we see mom's give toasts. You'll always remember how it made you feel, but you might not remember what was said or how you and your guests reacted. This moment is something photography can't capture as well as video, but it's something you'll absolutely love looking back on for years to come.
It's hard to tell when moments like this will strike, but it's quite likely you'll miss them while you're buzzing around meeting with guests or cutting your cake. It really feels wonderful to be able to show brides and grooms all the amazing moments that happened on their special day that they completely missed while their back was turned. Little moments like this should definitely be present throughout your wedding video.
Another favorite moment of ours! Here's where we get to be creative and set things up a little like a movie set. There's a lot of emotion during this part of your day and there are no second chances. This should absolutely be part of your wedding video and
here's how we set it up.
First, we capture the anticipation of the groom while their back is still turned. The groom relies on the reaction from people around them since their back is turned, so we want to capture all that first.
Second, we head over to the bride and capture the details and smiles as she starts walking towards her groom. The music selection in your wedding video is critical here and we love shooting this in slow-motion. :)
Finally, when everyone is ready, the groom slooooowly starts turning around — que the climax of the cinematic music and the slow-motion — and it's all smiles and tears from here on out.
There are countless hours you invest in the beautiful details at your wedding and it's our duty to immortalize these details. No wedding video would be complete without both the big details and the little details. Here's what I mean — We love starting our wedding videos with a drone shot of the venue to give some context to where the wedding is being held. After that, we set up shots for the venue. So, outside shots, landscaping, etc. After that we start looking at place settings, floral decorations, the cake, the rings, the DRESS, etc.
I hope this wedding video breakdown was helpful for you. If you have any questions, please reach out to us any time!
